On December 15, 2022, in a strong return to tactful nationalist policy, Former President Trump revealed his plan for restoring free speech to American citizens upon a victorious presidential election in 2024.
However, this critical revelation of Trump’s free speech political platform was overshadowed by the bizarre release of . . . Donald Trump NFTs?
Earlier in the day, preceding his free speech announcement, Trump had this to say on Truth Social:
“MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT! My official Donald Trump Digital Trading Card collection is here! These limited edition cards feature amazing ART of my Life & Career! Collect all of your favorite Trump Digital Trading Cards . . . Only $99 each!”
What?
Trump was promptly derided by various political commentators who took the opportunity to flame the NFT “MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT” debacle, many pointing out the absurdity of a former President stooping to a “Digital Trading Card” shill.
However, as always with Trump, we must take the good with the bad, and fortunately—a few hours removed from the embarrassing NFT launch—Trump also released his free speech policy agenda ahead of his 2024 campaign.
In a scripted 7-minute presentation, Trump detailed his plan for restoring free speech to American citizens.
To preface, Trump stated:
“If we don’t have free speech, then we just don’t have a free country. It’s as simple as that. If this most fundamental right is allowed to perish, then the rest of our rights and liberties will topple . . . That’s why today I’m announcing my plan to shatter the left-wing censorship regime and to reclaim the right to free speech for all Americans . . . In recent weeks, bombshell reports have confirmed that a sinister group of deep-state bureaucrats, Silicon Valley tyrants, left-wing activists, and depraved corporate news media, have been conspiring to manipulate and silence the American people. They have collaborated to suppress vital information on everything from elections to public health. The censorship cartel must be dismantled and destroyed, and it must happen immediately. Here’s my plan.”
At the outset, it is indisputable that this rhetoric comes in stark contrast to the abysmal and low-energy re-election announcement speech delivered by Trump one month ago at Mar-a-Lago which featured hardly any mention of the issue of censorship whatsoever. Notably, the announcement speech was rumored to be authored by Jason Miller, the pudgy CEO of the failing social media platform Gettr. (It has yet to be confirmed whether or not Miller was indeed also the progenitor of the disastrous “Superhero NFT” boondoggle, though some are speculating this to be the case.)
The Trump Plan to Restore Free Speech
Presenting an actionable plan, Trump detailed this five-step policy agenda:
- Signing Immediate Executive Orders
To begin, Trump stated that within hours of his inauguration he will sign an executive order, “banning any federal department or agency from colluding with any organization, business, or person to censor, limit, categorize or impede the lawful speech of American citizens.” Moreover, within this legislation, Trump also declares that as president, he will “ban federal money from being used to label domestic speech as ‘mis-’ or ‘disinformation’.” Critically, Trump revealed that he will also, “begin the process of identifying and firing every bureaucrat who has engaged in domestic censorship—directly or indirectly. . . no matter who they are.”
- Launching DOJ Investigation into Online Censorship Regime
Secondly, Mr. Trump announced that he will “order the Department of Justice to investigate all parties involved in the new, online censorship regime . . . and to aggressively prosecute any and all crimes identified.” According to Trump, these crimes include possible violations of: “federal civil rights law, campaign finance laws, federal election law, securities law, anti-trust laws, the Hatch Act, and a host of other potential criminal, civil, regulatory, and Constitutional offenses.” Apparently, upon reelection, Donald Trump is prepared to open up the full extent of the American legal code to prosecute in any way possible those engaged in online censorship. Trump also stated that he is “urging House Republicans to immediately send preservation letters” to the Biden administration and big tech giants, “ordering them not to destroy evidence of censorship.”
- Revising Section 230
Trump also announced his plan to tackle the notorious Section 230 clause which has been utilized for decades to improperly shield big tech platforms. Trump states:
Upon my inauguration as president, I will ask Congress to send a bill to my desk revising Section 230 to get big, online platforms out of the censorship business. From now on digital platforms should only qualify for immunity protection under Section 230 if they meet high standards of neutrality, transparency, fairness, and non-discrimination. We should require these platforms to increase their efforts to take down unlawful content such as child exploitation and promoting terrorism, while dramatically curtailing their power to arbitrarily restrict lawful speech.
- Attacking Incestuous “Private/Public” Censorship Collusion
In this fourth point, Trump offered a bevy of policy measures to topple the “toxic, censorship industry that has arisen under the false guise of so-called ‘mis-’ and ‘disinformation.’” In particular, Trump centralized on nonprofits and academic institutions involved in furthering Regime censorship, proposing: “If any US university is discovered to have engaged in censorship activities, or election interferences in the past. . . those universities should lose federal research dollars and federal student loan support for a period of five years—and maybe more.”
Additionally, Trump stated that new laws should be enacted that set “clear criminal penalties for federal bureaucrats who partner with private entities,” and deprive Americans of their First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendment rights. Furthermore, Trump put forth that to “confront the problem of major platforms being infiltrated by legions of former deep-staters and intelligence officials,” there ought to be a “7-year cooling-off period” before former intelligence and national security officials can take positions at big-tech platforms.
- Passing Digital Bill of Rights
Finally, former president Trump declared that the time has “finally come” for Congress to pass a “Digital Bill of Rights.” According to Trump, this Digital Bill of Rights should include the right to “digital due process,” meaning that government officials must need a court order to censor online content. Moreover, Trump states that when users of big-tech platforms have their content or accounts removed, “they should have the right to be informed that [censorship] is happening; the right to a specific explanation of the reason why; and the right to a timely appeal.”
Additionally, in perhaps the most notable portion of the entire speech, Trump asserted that: “all users over the age of 18 should have the right to opt-out of content moderation and curation entirely and receive an unmanipulated stream of information if they so choose.”
Certainly, this 5-step policy plan is a crucial development and is far more deserving of the “MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT” hype than the superhero NFT launch. Trump’s free speech restoration announcement is the most extensive and aggressive plan to attack the behemoth online censorship regime, which is the number one issue facing American patriots and preventing a national reactionary revival.
This policy plan is a definitive escalation in rhetoric from Donald Trump ahead of the 2024 race. One could posit that this announcement sprung out of desperation as Trump was recently purported to have his lowest approval rating since 2015, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll. Perhaps, one could argue that this poll is just another misleading and manipulated statistic—designed to serve in the establishment’s agenda to astroturf Ron DeSantis. Or could it be that a portion of Trump’s base is finding themselves identifying more closely with the potential candidate, Ye, and his explicitly Christian, revolutionary, political platform, rather than that of the uninspiring, dull, and moderate Trump 2024 campaign orchestrated by Jason Miller?
Prior to this free speech announcement, Trump was at a low point. Trump does not dominate the headlines as he once did; he does not seem to possess the strongest enthusiasm amongst the conservative base that caused his surge in 2016. However, this announcement presents a marked shift in rhetoric for Trump toward nationalist political policy and this is a reason to be optimistic. Now, Trump must onboard Ye’s advice and isolate the “loyalists” within his staff who are set on furthering a radical, Christian, America Fist agenda, while distancing himself from the non-Christian grifters and homosexuals interested in NFT scams.
Hopefully, this free speech announcement is the first step in that process.
