It has been said before that if you were to show WWII soldiers how immoral and God-less America would become, they would have never been as willing as they were to storm the beaches of Normandy.
At least one living WWII veteran says he feels this way, implying the war wasn’t worth it.
Carl Spurlin Deke who fought in the war turned 100 years old on June 29th. In a recent interview, Deke began crying as he reflected on modern America. In his interview with a local Fox station, the former Marine expressed his concern about the current state of the country saying this is not what our boys died for.
“People don’t realize what they have. They b*tch about it. And then nowadays, I am so upset because the things we did, the things we fought for, and the boys that died for it, it’s all going down the drain.” Deke began tearing up as he added “Our country is going to hell in a handbasket. We haven’t got the country we had when I was raised, not at all.”
The 100-year-old former marine wept for those growing up in America today saying, “Nobody will have the opportunity I had. It’s just not the same. That’s not what our boys, that’s not what they died for.”
According to a recent Gallup poll, half of Americans rate the state of moral values in the US as ‘poor,’ while other polls show record lows in those that believe in God.
According to the NY Post, a ‘Values and Belief’ poll conducted last May showed 6% fewer people said they believed that in the same poll which was conducted back in 20217.
“The Values and Belief poll, conducted from May 2 to 22, showed 81% of people answered that they believe in God. That is down six percentage points from the 87% of respondents who said they believed in God in the 2017 poll.”
According to another recent Gallup Poll, a record-low 38% of Americans are extremely proud to be American.
The 38% of U.S. adults who say they are “extremely proud” to be American is the lowest in Gallup’s trend, which began in 2001.
