The ‘slippery slope’ theory has been used frequently to explain the rapid rise in licentiousness and decline of sexual morality in American society. Many Americans point to the radical change in societal norms over the course of just the past few years, to prove the theory is anything but a fallacy.
Just a short time ago, even former President Barack Obama publicly opposed gay marriage — as did the majority of Americans — which is likely why political strategists advised Obama to take the position he did.
When Obama made his first public comments indicating his support for gay couples to marry in 2012, it was viewed as a pretty controversial political stand. Today, the media outlets like the Washington Post are advocating for more ‘kink’ at pride parades so children can see it, and drag queens are twerking in front of kindergarteners.
Within just a few years it has become ‘controversial’ to not only oppose same-sex marriage but everything else sexual liberation has led to.
Support for same-sex marriage in the U.S. has reached an all-time high of 70%, according to a poll released by Gallup, and the rise in support stems largely from a surge in support from Republicans, who for the first time approve of same-sex marriage at 55%.
This change explains the complete forfeiture by conservatives on these issues.
According to the Gallup studies published in papers like the Guardian, the percentage of adults in the US who identify as LGBTQ+ has also doubled over the past 10 years. The poll results also show a record 7.1% of American adults identify as LGBTQ+, jumping from 3.5% in 2012.
The poll also found that 21% of Generation-Z – those born between 1997 and 2003 – identify as LGBTQ, more than double the proportion of the previous millennial generation.
Many Americans are pointing to schools as the catalyst for this radical shift, where even in conservative states like Idaho, parents are showing up to school boards with complaints about LGBT and CRT curriculums.
In an article by the American Mind entitled “Even in Idaho,” Anna Miller and Scott Yenor write about how School administrators in Coeur d’Alene manipulated an 11-year-old girl into believing she was a boy and should undergo gender transition surgery.
District officials in the Coeur d’Alene school district have also adopted the ‘Ready Classroom Mathematics’ curriculum from Curriculum Associates, which is an organization whose goal is to ‘provide schools with culturally relevant and antiracist content.’
Many parents in conservative states think they are immune to the nationwide trends of this sort of material in educational programs, but Idaho is one of many examples of how these ideas have crept into red state schools across the country.
At Lake’s Middle School in Coeur d’Alene Idaho, for example, children as young as 12-years-old were handed out flyers inviting them to LGBT groups at the school.
The Idaho statewide sex education program standards require sixth through eighth-grade students to “differentiate between biological sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression.”
Across Idaho, there are frequent courses for teachers instructing them how to ‘create safe spaces for LGBTQ+ students.’ One of the courses from the Idaho Education Association, for example, was described as designed to ‘help educators create spaces for all students, but primarily for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students.’
No State authority knows how widespread it is, but according to a recent study, about 14% of 6-8 graders gain practice putting condoms on in a required course and a large percentage of elementary and middle schools in the state teach curriculum promoting LGBTQ advocacy and groups.
According to the same report, 47% of school libraries provide students with LGBTQ-related resources, and nearly 51% of high school graduates have been taught to be LGBTQ+ allies in their required courses.
SEICUS data suggests that LGBTQ-affirming curricula are widely available in Idaho’s education system. According to their data, an estimated 31% of Idaho’s middle school students and 51% of high school students are taught about sexual orientation, ‘gender identity’ and ‘gender expression.’ The Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network’s (GLSEN) data show similar numbers.
Some reports say it is even more widespread than this in the state and could be close to as prevalent as it is in states like California, Colorado, or Illinois. In Colorado, for example, the Superior Elementary School in Boulder County showed students as young as five-years-old videos from the Queer Kid Stuff Youtube channel, ahead of a performance from the “Phoenix, Colorado’s Trans Community Choir.”
Around 48% of Idaho districts implement what they call ‘social-emotional learning’ in their guiding curriculum framework according to the Idaho State Department of Education 2021.
According to studies, social-emotional learning cultivates certain attitudes, beliefs, opinions, and behaviors in children. There are two types of social-emotional learning, ‘standard’ and ‘transformative.’
The core objective of standard social-emotional learning programs is to fill the void of secularism in public schools after Christianity was banned from schools in the 1960s. At its core, Standard social-emotional learning shifts away from the Christian understanding about morality and objective truth and towards the more immoral societal norms.
“Transformative social-emotional learning programs seek to displace and stigmatize religious institutions and cultural norms such as the nuclear family, meritocracy, and the church (Sailer 2021) and replace them with ideas such as gender fluidity, anti-white racism, toxic masculinity, and white privilege,” reads the report. “For example, the ‘Second Step’ program used in many Idaho school districts teaches children to adopt the belief that white people are privileged and to become activists for Black Lives Matter and LGTBQ causes.”
Just a cursory look at some of the books that are either at local school libraries, on reading lists for student book reports, or shown to them in class should concern any parent. Many of the materials in Idaho classrooms are recommended by North Idaho Pride Alliance, which calls for educating children on ‘LGBT issues and the lived experience of LGBT people.’
The group also vows to ‘work toward full inclusion of LGBTQ+ persons’ within churches.
Last fall it was discovered that a teacher at Dalton School in New York City was showing cartoon videos on masturbation to first graders. After parents caught wind of what the teacher was showing their 5 and 6-year-olds, the teacher Justine Ang Fonte, resigned from the school.
One of the several videos the teacher used in one of her ‘sex-ed’ classes showed little kids talking about “touching themselves” for pleasure. Fonte’s lessons for first-graders also included subjects such as gender assigned at birth, gender identity, and gender expression.
Other films on ‘gender identity’ and homosexuality are being shown to children during class in certain schools across the US.
The Committee for Children Social-Emotional Learning Second Step curriculum is used in many school districts across Idaho including Coeur d’Alene, Pocatello-Chubbuck, and West Ada county.
Second Step Social-Emotional Learning encourages students to question their sexual orientation and gender, become activists, and use the website LoveIsRespect.org for sex advice. Resources such as “Five tips for your first time,” which promotes polyamory, and lists of places to get an abortion are provided on the website.
The Idaho Association for the Education also hosts annual workshops like “Boy? Girl? Both? Neither? What does it mean in our classroom?” to train teachers at its conferences “the language around gender,” and provides children’s books on diversity for educators to introduce transgenderism to small children.
Many parents say the curriculum in schools is intentionally morally corrupting children, and even in Idaho, legislators have failed to do anything to stop this.

Many of the groups in Idaho like the North Idaho Pride Alliance are linked up with organizations like the ‘Rainbow Squad‘ which helps to create and fund LGBT groups for children under 14 years of age.
Last year, attendees of a Rainbow Squad event in Post Falls Idaho were met by a crowd of community members protesting their event outside the Post Falls Library entrance. This protest was characterized as rooted in ‘hatred,’ but local conservatives say these labels are simply used to shut down dissent and have stopped acknowledging or responding to them.
Groups like the Rainbow Squad and North Idaho Pride Alliance are also linked to other organizations like ‘Prostasia.’
The Prostasia Foundation — based in San Francisco and run by members of the LGBT community — labels themselves as “a new kind of child protection organization.” The group advocates for replacing the word “pedophile” with “minor-attracted person,” or “MAP” and looks to destigmatize pedophiles.
They recently published a post on “3 simple steps that can reduce CSA,” or child sexual abuse. Among these is “Comprehensive sex ed that includes pleasure, consent, chronophilias, fetishes, etc.”
In November of last year, a Virginia university professor who argued it wasn’t immoral for adults to be sexually attracted to kids, agreed to resign after facing intense backlash for making the comment in an interview with the Prostasia Foundation.
Some Americans claim what is happening in schools all across the US, even in red states, combined with the content children can easily access at home, is likely the cause for the exploding numbers of children identifying as LGBT.
Abigail Shrier, a writer for the Wall Street Journal, investigated the issue of the increasing number of young children who identify as trans for her book but found her first prospective publisher pulled out following protests by staff.
Shrier eventually found someone willing to publish the book, Irreversible Damage, and according to one study in the book, there has been a 4,400% rise in adolescents claiming to have gender dysphoria in the UK.
Shrier also found that between 2016 and 2017, the number of gender-reassignment surgeries for girls in the US quadrupled, with people born female suddenly accounting for 70 percent of all such operations.
How to Stop It
Republican lawmakers in Florida are working to pass a bill that bans discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity in public schools from kindergarten through fifth grade. The bill also encourages parents to sue school districts that promote talking about such issues.
Naturally, the mainstream press is in uproar labeling the legislation as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill. But many conservatives are happy to see Republicans beginning to actually fight for conservative values instead of identifying as ‘conservative’ while legislating like libertarians.
Florida’s recent bill is just one part of a nationwide trend. There are 15 similar bills moving through state legislatures that restrict how textbooks and curriculums teach LGBTQ+ topics, who can be hired, and what teachers are allowed to say when it comes to gender identity and sexual orientation.
Many Republican legislators have labeled themselves as ‘staunchly conservative’ over the years, but have only seemed willing to defend the values that conservatives haven’t completely conceded on. For policies like gun rights and abortion, Republicans haven’t wavered much and have had major successes.
For other policies like gay marriage — and what some say essentially amounts to a mandatory celebration of homosexuality in public schools — Republicans are usually missing in action.
Over the past few years – and especially during the coronavirus craze – conservatives in blue states have been fleeing for red states because of policies enforced by blue-state politicians. In 2020 alone, millions of Americans fled to states like Texas, Florida, and Idaho, many in search of a reprieve from lawlessness, demographic change, and masking in schools.
What many elected Republicans don’t understand, however, is that the reverse of this occurrence is not only possible as well, it’s imperative to most conservatives today. Many of those fleeing for greener pastures are worried that if the representation in the states they’re fleeing to arent pushed further right, states like Texas and Idaho will soon be indistinguishable from California.
Under the ‘police powers’ of the tenth amendment, it is clearly stated that the regulation of health, wellbeing, morality and education of citizens is under the sole authority of the states. Police powers are the powers of a state government to make and enforce all laws necessary to preserve public health, safety, and the general welfare of the citizens of the country.
These powers originate from the English common law system, and when the Constitution was ratified in 1788, the states did not surrender their powers as a condition of creating the federal government. The federal government technically has very limited legal authority, the states hold most of the power.
The regulation of morality was a big part of America’s past time up until around 1965. For most of American history, the US has regulated the morality of citizens in some form or another. For instance, there were laws against sodomy and even cohabitation. For quite some time throughout American history, even exposed breasts were banned from American TV shows and movies. The Hays Code specifically, tried to stamp out all lust and licentiousness in American film.
Republican states have made steps in this direction. For example, certain Republican-controlled state legislatures have banned trans athletes in women’s sports, and some states have even banned puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and transitional surgery for minors.
The trajectory appears to be moving in a positive direction, but some say this is not nearly far enough, as this sort of legislation is addressing the symptoms rather than addressing the root causes in schools, digital content, and cultural decay.
The Democratic party seems to be much more likely to wield power, never asking for permission, approval, or forgiveness, while republicans hold meetings with academics to discuss the legality and morality of proposing legislation to stop it.

Prayer in schools was just as common as the pledge of allegiance before the 1960s. Following the 1960’s sexual revolution, this radically changed and continues to change with each passing year.
In June of 1962, the United States Supreme Court decided in Engel v. Vitale that a prayer approved for use in schools was in violation of the First Amendment by constituting schools an ‘establishment of religion.’
The following year, in June of 1963, the Court disallowed Bible readings in public schools for similar reasons, in Abington School District v. Schempp.
These two landmark decisions, both occurring in June, ultimately changed the face of American civil society, and in turn, helped usher in the last 50 years of the culture wars. Religiosity is all but dead in schools and some conservative pundits say that today, students across America are required to convert to a new religion.
Many conservatives argue that if praising Christ in public schools is a violation of the religious beliefs of other students, then gender studies, gender theory, and the celebrations of LGBT is a violation of the religious beliefs of Christian students.
More Prevalent at Home than in School
Conservative parents have many more children than liberal parents do and it’s not even close. But there are major obstacles standing in the way of their children adopting and maintaining their inherited conservative values. The educational system, some claim, is one of these obstacles, but a lot of the content aimed at children is much more prevalent at home.
A book written in 1990 called ‘Life After the Ball’ outlined the agenda playing out today, and how America will “conquer its fear and hatred of gays.” The book suggests that the LGBTQ community must transform themselves into an ‘oppressed victim class’ in order to coerce the ‘straights’ into protecting them.
The book also talks about how the push for representation in TV, media, and academia is one of the most important steps in fulfilling their goals. The writer claimed that ‘straights’ are natural protectors and will eventually conform.
In modern media and entertainment, younger audiences seem to be targeted more than older audiences with LGBT content.
A recent report by Entertainment Insider outlines the massive increase in LGBTQ content in children’s programming and explains that the people behind the scenes have been trying to make this happen for years. They are not stopping any time soon.
In January, GLAAD released its annual “Where We Are on TV” report and found that things have been holding steady when it comes to the representation of LGBTQ characters on scripted series on broadcast networks. The group’s previous demands of representation have been met according to their annual report. But GLAAD is not happy with this percentage, the group demanded more recently that the TV industry more than double this number to 25% by 2025.
A tidal wave of gay representation has washed over children’s TV shows, with a 222 percent increase in LGBTQ characters and stories between 2017 and 2019 alone. When parents check shows or movies their children plan to watch, they usually just check whether or not the content is age-appropriate. The vast majority of the websites that provide information don’t outline whether this sort of content appears.
When polled, most children say they first learned about things like homosexuality, binding, and hormone therapy, on social media.
It’s imperative for parents to understand that while what is happening in schools is bad and needs to end, this sort of content is far more prevalent in the home.
Instead of simply checking the age recommendation before allowing your children to watch a movie or a show, do a deep dive into what sort of content the is in that particular piece of media.
Pornography is now easily accessible to children and usage has dramatically increased because of the internet and mobile device prevalence. The consumption of porn content on mobile is all high time with huge swaths of younger ages able to access free websites with no real age verification.
