With the 2022 Olympic games just weeks away, a group of Chinese basketball fans began repeatedly yelling the n-word at U.S. basketball player, Sonny Weems, as he gets off a bus.
“Nigger, nigger, nigger, nigger. Get out of China!” the fan yelled, prompting an apology from the basketball league after hundreds of fans decried the incident.
The incident took place after a qualifying match, where it is said that Sonny Weems got into a physical altercation, prompting fans to use the racial slur.
Sonny, who is one of the very few black players in the Chinese league, was extremely physical with other players, prompting the altercation to escalate.
