Following the recent layoffs at CNN, which included Brian Stelter and the cancellation of his show ‘Reliable Sources,’ journalists seem to be on high alert lately, wondering who may be next.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, CNN’s decision to cancel Brian Stelter’s show brought “renewed anxiety to the halls of 30 Hudson Yards,” according to multiple CNN staffers.
New CNN chairman and CEO Chris Licht also seems to have finally realized that journalism legend Ted Koppel was correct in his assertion that the network was extremely dependent on Donald Trump for ratings.
According to reports, Licht recently held a virtual meeting with the CNN staff to discuss some of the changes he wants to make at the network, warning ‘you might not like or understand’ what’s coming.
“I want to acknowledge that this is a time of significant change, and I know that many of you are unsettled,” Licht said, according to the Hollywood Reporter, who quoted multiple people on the call. “There will be more changes, and you might not understand it or like it.”
Over the past few days and weeks, hundreds of verified journalists have been posting their phone numbers on social media seemingly more than ever before, in a desperate attempt to get an edge at the outlet they’re working for, hoping people call them for stories.
We do not condone calling any of these people.
